Description

This easy homemade taco seasoning is so simple to make and so good that you’ll never want to use store-bought packets again!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 Tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 Tablespoon smoked paprika (can use sweet paprika if you prefer)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (plus more, to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Pinch of cayenne (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients in a small bowl or jar.
  2. Store in an airtight container (glass is best) for up to a year.
  3. Use 2 tablespoons of spice mix per 1 lb of meat or veggies, with ¼ cup of water.
  4. If you want a thicker sauce, add 1 teaspoon of cornstarch or arrowroot powder for every 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning with the meat, and add another ¼ cup of water.

Notes

  • Makes about ⅓ cup (enough for 2-3 batches of tacos)
